Reality tele and its 'unrealness'

It is baffling what people willing to do, in order to appear on tv.

I was surfing internet on my laptop, The tele was on and the program was something loosely translated as "Family on the brink". (familien in brennpunkt? series x igt tajuk)
Anyway on that episode it shows a family that had a house, renovated it, but somehow the contractor didn't finish/do his job.
Ok, bleh terima lagi.

Then the family decides to live in the unfinished house, with dust all over the place and the place in ruins. No working toilet, no electricity.
OK, dah pelik.

Then the scene shows the family having breakfast, in the middle of the wreck of a kitchen. A small knee-high table with them sitting in kindergarten chairs around it, eating their morning meal. The dialogue goes like this (from what I understand by my kaputt Deutsch):

"Morning," kids said. One boy, one girl.
"Good morning. That's more like it," mum replied. Then they eat.
"Mom, are we going for holidays," bla bla bla the boy mumbled.
"Do I have to explain it to you. You know what we are in blablabla. Girl go get *something*," mom said.
The girl stood up and after a few seconds she stepped on a nail. A nail on a wood, lying just right on the doorway.
Why in the whole world was there a spiked wood right in the doorway?
Series aku tak paham.

The girl cried, mommy cooed and the father suddenly worked himself up.
" Takleh jadi ni, takleh. Ni dah melampau! Nak kena kontraktor ni," kata lelaki tersebut. Pastu dia pon pulun bawak kluar henset dia waktu tu jugak, p telefon kontraktor tu, smbil bising- bising depan kamera.
After he finished, he kicked the spiked wood, throwing tantrum. Later the scene changed and showed the husband and wife arguing. "Abang nak mengamuk ni sebab apa?" or something like that. After arguiing in front of the camera, the husband went to the contractor's house and threw the spiked wood along with some more garbages into the contractor's lawn. The contractor's wife came out and asked, "Dude, wtf?"
Pastu gaduh lagi.

It all seem scripted or/and stupid.
How can people exposed themselves to the world like that. I don't think anyone would ever think something worse than that to get on tv..

It is baffling what people willing to do, in order to appear on tv. I think it's alright to be public since I am in fact writing a blog right now, which the whole world can see. However if you really don't mind people seeing you for what you are, at least let them learn something valuable from what they see. Maybe like her and her blog here.
