Aside from the fact that I am Malaysian which automatically categorize it as so, the multi-ethnic/cultural/religion side of us is an amazing thing. However Malaysians mostly share a few common characteristics, and these are more apparent when you meet them oversea. Other than the ever present "Lah" ending our sentences, here's what I think is unique to a Malaysian.
Of course this is no comprehensive list and exist from my solitary views, which is just for the fun of it. Feel free to add. :D
1. Malaysians are the only who uses the term Maggi for instant noodles.
Regardless if the noodles is Indomie or whatever other brand that exist in the market, Malaysians will still call it Maggi. Using brand names as the product itself is always present but the usage of Maggi, applies only to Malaysian. Plus it's so apparent since Malaysian students loooooove maggi.
Banyak kan? Believe me, I'd bring more if it were possible
2. We ask for 'kicap' when we eat.
Or chili sauce for that matter.
Food label depicting a
3. There's slippers in the toilet.
Ours even have a unicorn/dragon/mystique creature/whatever on it!
4. The hijab, tudung.
Though this only applies to a certain gender and religion, it stood out so clearly if one was to observe oversea. Malaysian who wear hijab is very easy to differentiate. The material, the cove(curve part?) above the forehead, the pins ; all have their distinct style that differs from muslimah from other country, even from Brunei. That is unless the woman wear the 'tudung bibik'. Blergh.
5. We like free stuff.
If you notice all the above in a person, and that person is at a free event, be it free drinks, food testing etc, then one cannot be wrong to 'accuse' the person a Malaysian. Right?
Komen lah!

Share facebook lah? Boleh? :p
