Haji Samuri

Some things are not correct because they are always like that, but it's because they are no corrected that they are always like that.

Last night we went to eat at Haji Samuri in Bangi, since pokcek said,"Aku dah dua tahun tak makan satay." Hence after a few (mis)arrangement, 8 of ex-GMIs managed to totter and meet in the restaurant. After a few chit-chats and mouthful of meat, an old blind man with a woman guiding her came close to our table. My friend signaled 'no' and they went away.

"Aku selalu serba salah dalam situasi camtu," I said. Two of my friends chipped in and said how if you have money and want to give, I should simply do it then. "Ala, ko jangan pelik la sini ramai macam tu, sini area orang kaye. Jadi memamng selalu la nampak," said one of my friend.
"Aku tak pelik ada kat sini, tapi aku macam ragu-ragu samada nak bagi ka dak. sebab kita taktau dia macam mana, kerja apa, kemahiran apa." I further on said how by giving them the money, we only alleviate the symptom and not solve the problem. IN my mind I think every person have a way of earning a living for themselves. Some blinds do handiwork and crafts. The income generated most probably wouldn't be enough for a living(which where we should chip in) but the fact that the person had worked for him/herself is a crucial fact, both to their own self-appreciation and also to the view of society.
Islam encourages this as the man who asked food from Nabi Muhammad s.a.w. was given an axe, so he can cut wood and work for himself (correct me if I am wrong). However when they have done their utmost effort and still be poor, for some people are destined to be, Islam provides them the Baitulmal.

Back to the story. After a few more sentences the topic dies down and our talks pursued other things. However I kept ruminating about what talent or skills that these blinds have that can be useful for them.We finally finished eating and after we went out of the restaurant, a taxi stopped nearby. A blind man came out of it with a boy as his guide. It suddenly came to me that there were 4 blinds person, accompanied by a guide, that appeared last night. The one that came calmly out of the taxi made me realized that someone found out one of a blind's 'skill' and decided to employ them in such an organized fashion.

Is the mastermind of the syndicate at fault?

Or is it us who should be held responsible?
