Snow white never build a snowman

This year(end 2009,early 2010) has the coldest winter I have yet experienced. News says its among the coldest since lots of year (stail malas nk google paling sejuk sejak brapa tahun)

Surprisingly this winter is not so depressing. IN fact, it is quite a wonderful experience!

Maybe because it snowed properly(not liked someone sprinkled flour all over the road like last year). And maybe because we managed to build snowman(s) and had lots of fun with the white ice. Or maybe I am able to better adapt to the cold after bracing two past winters. Or even maybe my mind is preoccupied by something else, in a place sunny and warm. >.<

Still, winter is cold.

Here's a few anecdotes/myths/facts/whatever-you-want-to-call-it about the winter here.

1. Long hair helps in winter.

Ya ka? Rasa macam dak.

You can wear hats/caps if you cropped your hair short.

Besides, it's harder to dry long hair and in winter you really need to dry yourself quick.Else the cold will get to you. That's a disadvantage.

Myth!

*I was combing my hair while reading notes when I had to stop and jot something down. Then I looked around for my comb, before realizing I left it stuck on my head.

2. Sejuk woo air.

There's warm water.

But the air itself is cold, and when you use warm water, it dries up even quicker.

Since physically when water evaporates, it absorb energy from the surrounding (endothermic), leaving the skin really cold. Hence the quote, "like stepping from a warm shower into the cold air"

Kalau silap gaya, basuh tangan pon boleh selsema. Wudhu' pon kalau boleh nak tahan 1 hari. haha!

*dulu ada baca dalam buku Roald Dahl, yang dia kena buli dengan senior. Waktu musim sejuk, awal-awal pagi senior akan panggil dan suruh junior p tandas, dan duduk atas jamban (sejam, 30 minit?). Jadi bila senior-senior tu nak guna tandas, tak sejuk dah bagi depa. Kesian Roald Dahl*

3. Baju musim sejuk antara paling bergaya

Leider sind die Farbe langweilig.(sad to say, the colours are all dull)

Tak paham apsal omputih xpakai warna warni. Pelik jugak. Awan dh la mendung, pakai la warna cerah, senang sikit nak nampak kalau tergolek waktu jalan atas salji.

Oh, musim sejuk kena ada kasut baru. Kalau dak licin wooo. (Alasan utk shopping)

* For me, it would take more than 3 minutes to put on all my clothes before going out. First layer shirt, second layer shirt, hoodie, 2nd hoodie, overall jacket. Not to mention the scarves, gloves and double stockings(if it get really cold).

Baju saja dah berkilo-kilo berat, macam mana x jalan macam penguin?

That's why most people, or at least me, are very reluctant to go out. Even to get food.

However some girls do wear only leggings under their short skirts. tak sejuk ka? Beats me.*

4. Makan banyak waktu winter

I seriously see no difference.

But it is a bit frustrating cooking in winter. The dishes get cold too quickly. If you cook 2 dishes, most prolly the first dish is already cold by the time you're finished.

5. Winter tak bau busuk sangat.

Yes. Probably because it's cold and the microbes and stuff are frozen. So foods don't go bad and garbages don't compose too quickly.Or maybe smell travel slowly in low temperature?
